Elena

Elena

Elena is a professional musician who has been playing in front of live audiences for over 7 years. Her love for music began at the age of 9 when she began playing classical piano. It wasn’t until she was in her mid 20′s that she fell in love with the guitar. She began playing with friends and soon taught herself to play along to many of her favorite cover songs. During her learning process, she discovered that she had a voice and she started testing her voice, and her stage fright, in front of crowds at open mic nights around Central Ohio. It was at one of those open mic nights that she was asked to join her first band, “The Sleeves”. After a year of playing rhythm and blues, she developed a style of her own and a love for all different types of music. She then went on to play with several other bands whose styles ranged from Bluegrass to Rock & Roll. It wasn’t until 2010 that she and her sister decided to play as an acoustic duo. Elena has performed in many restaurants and bars all over Central Ohio as well as in festivals such as Comfest in Columbus, Oh. The Diamond Festival in Logan, Oh. and The Lancaster Festival in her hometown of Lancaster, Oh. She has written dozens of her own songs and adds them to each performance with her sister. Her originals range in style but could be characterized as Folk or Americana. Elena’s songs are about people, authentic and fictional. She uses her experiences from life to create stories and characters that contain solid truths about humanity as a whole.

Andrea

Andrea

Andrea has been performing since she was a child. She first started singing around the house with her older siblings and as she got older took professional voice lessons . She performed in countless concerts and recitals throughout her grade school and high school years. Her experience ranges from church gatherings and school events to night life entertainment. It wasn’t until she was in college that she and her sister Elena began to perform together as a group. Andrea found much of her inspiration in old musicals and in her own sister Elena. She discovered the power of harmony in music and added a rich texture to the sound of Forcynthia. She also adds guitar, harmonica and percussion to the duo. Andrea has developed a versatile voice over the years ranging from a jazzy to an r&b style. She loves music of all genres and time periods. The entire family was constantly immersed in music and both Andrea and Elena learned the joy of song through their father Joe, who played the guitar and sang, and their mother Cynthia (for whom the band name originated) who hummed a tune while she cooked, cleaned or did about anything around the house.
